Ever think about how often memories and object are linked? Here is my little memory corner...I had to leave a lot of my little trinkets behind when I moved, and trust me, there were a LOT of them...I'm a trinket kind of girl. But these are a few of the ones I cherish most and just couldn't bear to leave without them. So here is a small tribute to those of you who've impacted my life (and this is in no way a comprehensive list, just a few).

The little round box is from Jo. She was one of my very first friends when I moved to Alaska. I wasn't a very likable person so I'm grateful to her for putting up with me. I love Jo because she is such a steadfast friend. If she hates you, you know it. Hehehe!! And if she loves you...well, you know she's there for you no matter what, even when you mess up. Or maybe especially then. Everyone needs a Jo in their life. I miss mine...

The snowman is from Dawn. She was also one of my first friends in Alaska. Dawn is very opinionated! I blame her for my opinions! She put some fun in my life when I desperately needed it. I always, ALWAYS think of Dawn when I see a snowman.

The little Peanuts fireman is from Amber. She knows how I love firemen!! (Not as much as you, Jeremy) Amber and I never knew a bad time. Shoes, food, bowling, laughing, food, shoes, food, shoes... I can still call Amber and know that I'll laugh the whole time. Only now we talk about poop, spit-up, diapers, poop, blow-outs.... Everyone also needs a friend like Amber. Laughter really IS the best medicine.

The cross-stitch is from Danielle. I believe that God puts some friends in your life for a time just because you need them at that point. I don't hear from Danielle anymore but she was exactly what I needed for a while. And I'll love her for always.

The bowl in the back is from another past friend. Finely. He traded it to me for a batch of no-bakes. (Kind of like Esau, right? Just kidding!) I don't know why I can't get rid of that little pot, but I just can't. I don't understand what happened with Finely, really, but I do miss him. There's no one else in the world like Finely.

I took Susannah to the park the other day and she kept flinging her pacifier out of the stroller...guess I didn't see it happen and a truck ran over it. I couldn't find the same ones at the store and she absolutely refuses to take the new one. Between that and the teething it's been a long few days. I guess it's time to wean her off of the sucker anyways, but, oh, how I miss that plug!! :O) I think she does too...

Susannah with her doll from grammie and poppy. Yes, it is a black baby. Anyone tried doll shopping lately? If you want a non-battery operated, non-realistic, non-pooping, non-eating, non-heavily-accessorized...you're pretty much out of luck!
She wasn't feeling well Christmas day so she was pretty much a huge grouch when it came to the presents and well, anything that didn't include food or sleep.

Well....my feelings are very hurt because no one said they missed me at Christmas just cause I didn't make a Christmas post. Poo!
Well, anyway, things have been absolutely crazy but here are some pictures. I'm still planning on sitting down and actually writing a nice long catch-up post but the more time passes, the more I have to catch up one and the prospect is frankly freaking me out. :O)

It was a really cool place, it operates as a bed and breakfast now but they've restored it and we were the only people there....it was beautiful!

No special reason for choosing that title. Just thought it would get everyone's attention.
Well, I haven't actually written much of anything in a while so this may be long. Or not. :O)
First off, Sparky died. His fin and then his tail fell off. I don't really want to talk about it cause it was gross and I don't know why it happened. Plus I feel like the meanest person ever for letting that happen...although I don't know HOW I let it happen. Sigh. So no more bettas for me. I'm considering African dwarf frogs. Where would you even find those, though?
Let's see....did I ever even post on Josh and Ang's trip? Good grief...I'm further behind than I thought I was. Well, it was wild and crazy and we were SOOO tired when they left, but it was SO much fun!!! :O) Here is a quick synopsis of the week they were here. Saturday they flew in, drove out here, rested for a few hours, then we went out to my in-laws as usual for hamburgers that evening. Sunday we went to church, Pappadeaux (a seafood restaurant) in Dallas, looked at a car (another wagon identical except the color to the one we wrecked...which we ended up buying, by the way) in Fort Worth, screamed home to change clothes ( I can only wear dress shoes on Sunday morning...I've obviously been away from the banking world for a while!!), and managed to get back to church in time (unless you've bee down here and understand just how far apart dallas and fort worth and mesquite all are you won't be impressed with that). Then Sunday night we went to Jake's house for some incredibly yummy leftover cake from his friend David's birthday.
Monday we got up and drove to Emory so the guys could ride the horses, we were there all day and managed to make two Sonic runs....the first time we ordered so much food that we were all literally sick but that eventually wore off and where did we find ourselves? Thats right, folks, sitting in the Sonic parking lot once again. (They wanted ice cream...bleh)
Tuesday Josh, Ang, Susannah, and I all headed for Temple. I held my very first PartyLite show at grandmas, then we had dinner at IHOP. We didn't get to see Uncle John until the next morning before we left, but we DID get to see him. :O) We also stopped at grandpas grave (after wandering around the entire graveyard we STILL had to have it pointed out to us). Wednesday we went to Freeport and hung out with Heatherbunny and Calebbunny (that just sounds weird, but I didn't want him to feel left out....Heather having a cute nickname and all and him being just plain ole Caleb) I got to see Pastor Taylor that night cause he was preaching a conference down there!! We visited with her for about half the day on Thursday and then headed back to Dallas. It wasn't long enough, I wish we lived a little closer. Friday we went back out to Jakes and then to CiCi's for pizza (yum!!) and finished the day out at Six Flags. It was open just in the evening so it was nice and cool (sorta) and there were no lines!!! Yay!!! Susannah stayed with her grandma and grandpa and auntie Michelle and did very well (so they say). :O) I'm not entirely sure they would tell me if she was bad. Saturday Ang and I went shopping and the guys went to the drag races. Then Sunday we went to church, ate at Roma's (just the best Italian restaurant ever) then back to church. Monday they left. :O( So...see how crazy??!!! Somehow we also managed to squeeze in a haircut and highlight job and lots of Susannah-spoiling and pretty much non-stop talking. I included the list of restaurants (and that wasn't all we ate...oh no...there were also Jack in the Box stops, more Sonic runs, lots of convenience store goodies, the list goes on....but all that to say...I did NOT lose any weight while they were here!!! Oh no. In fact I gained two pounds back!!! But thankfully I've now lost them and three more. Yay!!! I'm almost ten pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight. :O)
My first month with partylite has been fun and hectic and crazy. I'm not sure if I'll do this long-term or not. It's really fun but may not be super conducive to family life since the shows have to be in the evenings. I'm going to try it on a limited basis for a while and we'll see whether or not it works. We don't want it to be a job, just something for me to get out of the house a little bit with. Thank you to all you ladies who hosted shows, catalog or in-home. :O)
Well, I could go on for a while, but I think i better go. I need to go see if there's any clearanced halloween candy. :O) I'm a sucker for markdown candy. Just ask Jeremy. He'll tell you all about it.

Okay, so I met this photographer on CafeMom (a forum for moms...obviously) the other day...she's currently a student in the process of getting her degree in photography and is trying to build a portfolio. She asked if she could practice on Susannah and OF COURSE I'm not going to turn that kind of offer down. I ended up with over sixty adorable pictures for FREE!!!! Her name is Brandi Lacey and I think that for being in her first semester of school she is doing AWESOME!! There are so many I love that I can't even choose which to put on here so you all may be seeing a zillion pictures before the day is over!!! :O)

Okay, I have a lot of goals.
I'm the kind of person who always has about ten million things that I really, really WANT to do....but as soon as I start on one of these "projects" I get sidetracked by another "project" and then I find myself sitting in front of the computer thinking "how on earth did I get here and what on earth am I supposed to be doing?" And THEN I have to run around doing the stuff that I HAVE to do and never get back to my "projects." Thus the "ten million."
So here's a great new "project" to add to my list!! Yay!! I love "projects!!"
Onward.
I want to pick a subject...any subject...each week and research it for the entire week until I have a fairly good grasp of this...well, subject. Obviously, if I pick, say, Kenya, I won't have a very good understanding of the subject even after a week of studying up on it. So the topic will have to be somewhat narrowed. Dur.

So...who wants to help me pick out some topics? The more, the merrier.

...you have itchy red bumps on your....ribcage? Now, how on EARTH could I have gotten poison ivy there? Strange, I don't recall wearing a bikini lately....
I'm not positive that's what it is, but Jeremy is thinking so. I really really hope I haven't passed it on to Susannah...so far the blisters haven't opened so I don't think so.

My starter party for PartyLite is tonight....I think it's going to pretty much be a flop. The only people who are coming for sure are Elaine and Michelle. I invited over twenty people down here too....what's wrong with everyone? Free food and candle smelling!!! It would get me every time. :O) Oh well, maybe I just picked a bad night for everyone...

Well, I finally made it down to one pound less than my pre-pregnancy weight. Not that it's all that impressive, I still have between ten and fifteen pounds to go to reach my target weight. But it's encouraging that I'm steadily losing. Plus I'm beating Jeremy on our bet to see who can lose ten pounds fastest!! That's always incentive... :O) (But don't mention it to him, it's a touchy subject) ;O)

I went to Michaels yesterday....it's been a long while since I've been in there, but it rekindled our love affair. :O) They were having a GIGANTIC sale and boy, oh boy, did I ever have fun looking around!! I've been searching for a 24x36 inch frame for a project (I'll post pictures after I finish...if it turns out well) and turns out that frames that large are very expensive! But darling Michaels had a 55% off sale so I got one for a reasonable price...well, MORE reasonable than any other I've found! Plus, it's beautiful. The problem with going into places like that are that I come out with so many MORE ideas for projects.....
Aaaaahhhh...a little bit at a time. ;O) I can't even count the number of hours I spent in the Fairbanks Michaels. Now if we'd only get a Joann;s superstore in the area.... (You'd think we'd have one down here, but NO, I get spoiled in Fairbanks and then come down here to a very UN-superstore Joann's.)

I finally threw out my grandpa plant. :O( How sad. It had about two green leaves left on it, and I just couldn't bear to see them die so I threw it out in my compost pile. Sigh.

I'm looking for amaryllis bulbs....

Ang and Josh will be here in a little over a week...as my mom would say..."I cant WAIT!!"

So I'm going through my front room closet. Now, if any of you have been to my house you may understand what an undertaking this is. It is my candle/pictures and frame/general craft closet.
Ummm....did anyone give me a little ziploc bag of seashells? I have one. :O) And obviously...have no clue where it came from....
Hmmm...maybe they were from Puerto Vallarta....hmmm.....you think I'd remember bringing home shells from my HONEYMOON...!! Or, maybe not....

You know what's sad? When you realize that you have more gray hair than your mother......

Partylite

So guess what...I finally did it....I'm going to be a Partylite consultant. Remember how Reb and I always used to get all the info every time we had a party? :O)
And guess what...all my friends and family can order from me!! (If they want to.) I'll probably be sending some of you a magazine through email a little later on....there's some pretty good deals this month and my party is going to be next Thursday. Then I'll just have to have six parties over the next month and I'll be all set!! I'm pretty excited about it...seems like a fun way to earn a little extra money. :O) So wish me luck!!

Here's a picture of Sparky, our blue Betta.
Little Noah named him... ;o) I didn't even have a chance, he just popped in and said, "Hey, he looks like a Sparky!!"
Anyway, it's hard to get a good picture through the glass...
And here is our little watermelon...the plants just did nothing for most of the summer...our garden got flooded out this year. But we have three or four little melons on the vine now!! So cool!! I've got all my gardening books out and can't wait til next spring!! (I'm sure Jeremy is groaning as he reads this....) ;O) I love flowers!!! Boy do I have lots of ideas!!! :O)

I found this book while browsing at Burlington Coat Factory the other day and fell in love with it...so, so cute. I didn't buy because I thought I could find it used on amazon or something but turns out that they aren't that easy to find and they cost a lot more online than they do at this store. So I'll be going back for it...there's actually a series of books but this one was the cutest.

Well Susannah survived her first round of shots admirably well....not too sure how well I did though. She's been feeling a little under the weather but nothing too serious, just sleeping it off for the most part.
She weighs a whopping 13 lbs, 1 oz and is 23 inches long!!! The doctor said she's in the 90th percentile for her weight... :O) They seemed to think that was a good thing, though. Little porker. ;O)

Hey, I'm actually going to try to sit down and write something instead of just posting pictures!! :O) Applause, please...
Well, let's see...Susannah is growing like a weed. She's huge!! It doesn't quite seem fair that you do all that work to cook them up and then they don't even stay tiny for more than a couple of weeks. But I guess that means she's healthy...hopefully. I'm taking her to her two month checkup tomorrow morning and words can't even describe how much I'm dreading them giving her shots. She'll blame me, right? I'm probably going to cry...
Let me tell you about the multiple disasters on Friday night...I was about to pull my hair out!! First, I made some friendship bread so I took the starts with me to the prayer meeting at church to see if anyone wanted one. Well, brilliant person that I am, decided to leave them in the car....NOT the best idea I've ever had. So of course I forgot about them and OF COURSE they decided to explode..or leak...doesn't matter which, cause it was the same result. So...gnarly yeasty stuff all over the backseat. Disaster number one.
Well, I get home and start cleaning that up and Susannah is screaming cause she wants to eat. So Jeremy takes over on the yeast front and I sit down to feed the little piranha. All of a sudden there's this sonic boom coming from the general vicinity of her diaper. I'm thinking..."UH-OH..that does NOT sound good..." So I take a peek and she has somehow completely missed getting anything on herself but managed to get yellow goop all over my skirt and the rocking chair. Now, how is that even possible? And how much force must be behind something like that?!! :O)Turns out my daughter has incredible aim. Disaster number two.
So, then I'm trying to clean myself and the chair and the diaper up and she decides to barf all down my shirt. Disaster number three.
Oh yes, and I'd somehow already gotten something (probably the beastly yeast mix) all over the back of my shirt.
So in reality I was the walking disaster.
So to make me feel better Jeremy actually sat through about half of Fiddler on the Roof after we had cleaned up everything that was smelling bad. :O)
I bought a Betta fish, he is blue and very snobby as it turns out. He refused for an entire week to eat the Betta food I bought so I researched it out a little and tried these nasty freeze dried blood worms which they supposedly love. Now he porks them down as fast as I'll give them to him. No cheap Betta food for Sparky (so named by Noah)!!! He wants only the best....it was all i could do to buy those things...they just sound so GROSS. I don't even want to know why they're called blood worms.
Jeremy bought me a bracelet for my birthday that has Susannah's name spelled out in little silver blocks. It's really pretty, silver with pearls. I love it!! Who would've thought that Jeremy would be such a thoughtful gift-giver? :O) But turns out that he is.
My grandpa plant is almost completely dead. I'm not sure what I did wrong because it was growing like crazy for the first few months. It just up and decided to croak one day I guess. I also had absolutely no luck with my gladiolus so I GIVE UP!! My lilies and roses are doing pretty well though so I shouldn't complain too much. Jeremy pulled the bushes out of the front so we're going to make a little rock garden up there. Any suggestions?
I just finished a Ted Dekker book called Three...it was pretty good. He's a very good storyteller for sure, one of the best, at least as far as the Christian authors go.
We've only had one week of 100+ weather this summer. Unheard of. :O) We're still looking forward to Autumn...
Ang and Josh are coming down at the end of September and then Phil and Jenn in October and then we're going to Colorado in November (over Thanksgiving) and there's a possibility of mom and dad being here over Christmas and Heather and Caleb will be here a few days in December so I'm psyched!! Yay for family!! I miss everyone so much.

Another Rainy Monday

We took Susannah to get her picture taken this weekend...she did so good. When I get them back I'll be sure to post a few. She's getting so chubby!! I can't believe how much she's already grown, it's almost like I don't have a little tiny baby anymore. Good grief, all that work and she's already starting to act independent..pushing herself away and stuff. ;O) Actually, she loves being held, what baby doesn't? But she does seem to be extraordinarily strong, she's held her head up since the day she was born and she can push herself off my lap with her legs if I don't hold on to her really well. Jeremy and I are enjoying being parents so far. She doesn't really give us much trouble yet!! :O) Even sleeps through most of the night. Jeremy calls her "Susalito"....I guess it's his version of a Spanish Susannah. She gets very spoiled on Sundays and Wednesdays...then she wants to be held all day on Monday. ;O) I remember Jenn having trouble with her boys on Mondays....of course, I was usually there to make it worse for her by picking them up. I sure do miss my Jonny and Davy....Jesse too, but I'm not sure I was around enough to become a favorite auntie. Having Susannah makes it a little easier to not be around them...it's not the same of course, but atleast I have a cute kid around to make me happy. :O)
I think I need to invent a pacifier that has little ear rubber bands or something to make it stay on...she waits until i walk away to spit it out so i have to come back and put it in her mouth again. Babies aren't stupid, people.
Well, let's see, not too much else going on. Heidi should be back in Alaska now, I'm sure she and Heather had a blast together. Now I'm just waiting for the next batch of family to come visit, which should be Josh and Ang in September. Yay!! Can't wait!! I miss my fights with Ang. :O)
